Zakat is a fundamental pillar of Islam and aims to achieve social solidarity through the redistribution of wealth among community members. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">For gold, it is essential first to understand the nisab, which is the minimum amount of gold that makes zakat obligatory, estimated at 87.48 grams. If a person owns gold that meets or exceeds this nisab, they are required to pay zakat at a rate of 2.5% of the total value of the gold. This value is calculated based on the current market price of gold. Additionally, the gold must be held for a full lunar year before zakat becomes due. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">By understanding how to calculate zakat on gold, Muslims ensure the proper fulfillment of this pillar, thereby enhancing the spirit of solidarity and cooperation within the Islamic community.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mt-1 flex gap-3 empty:hidden -ml-2\">\n<div class=\"items-center justify-start rounded-xl p-1 flex\">\n<div class=\"flex items-center\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Conditions for Zakat on Gold According to the Hanafis<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The Hanafi school obligation <a href=\"https:\/\/masarat-sy.org\/en\/zakat-on-saved-gold\/\">zakat on gold<\/a>, regardless of its form\u2014be it for adornment or trade\u2014provided it reaches the nisab over a lunar year and amounts to 85 grams or more of pure gold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Umm Salama, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated that she wore gold bracelets and asked, &#8220;O prophet of Allah, is this considered hoarding?&#8221; He replied, &#8220;What reaches the amount necessary to pay zakat on it, then zakat is paid, it is not considered hoarded.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Minimum and Nisab of Zakat on Gold According to the Hanafis<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The obligatory zakat amount on gold for Hanafis is one-quarter of a tenth, i.e., 2.5% of the gold&#8217;s value. The nisab for gold is twenty mithqals, supported by the hadith from Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, where the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: &#8220;For <strong>two hundred<\/strong> dirhams, zakat is <strong>five<\/strong> dirhams, and nothing is due on gold until you own twenty dinars. If you own <strong>twenty<\/strong> dinars and a year passes, then a <strong>half<\/strong> dinar is due.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalgiving.org\/projects\/educate-500-orphans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13659 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/masarat-sy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/081A7995_Large.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/masarat-sy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/081A7995_Large.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/masarat-sy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/081A7995_Large-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/masarat-sy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/081A7995_Large-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Method of Calculating Zakat on Gold According to the Hanafis<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">As mentioned in the letter of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, to Amr ibn Hazm: for gold reaching the value of two hundred dirhams, zakat is due for every forty dirhams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Currently, the nisab for gold is eighty-seven grams, equivalent to twenty mithqals or twenty dinars, where a mithqal is four grams and twenty-five hundredths of a gram.
