Overcoming Challenges with Masarat

Anas Qasir, a 17-year-old Syrian youth, had to interrupt his education due to his father’s arrest and his family’s displacement from their home. However, despite life’s challenges, he never lost hope in achieving his dream. He managed to resume his studies and create a better future for himself and his family.

Life Challenges: Working instead of learning

Anas spent his childhood in Aleppo, but his life took a major turn when his father was arrested in 2016, the same year that witnessed the displacement from Aleppo to Idlib province in northern Syria. This forced him to drop out of primary school and join the workforce to support his family.

He explained, “I left before finishing middle school and took on the heavy burden of providing for my family after my father’s arrest in 2016 and our displacement from our home in 2017. As the sole breadwinner, I had to work to meet my family’s needs. Unfortunately, that meant I couldn’t continue my education in school, particularly in the ninth grade, so I had to study on my own and apply to the exams independently”.

Anas overcomes challenges with Masarat Initiative

Anas faced many challenges to complete his education and surpass middle school. He was able to join the Masarat Initiative, which brought him benefits and eased the burdens of life. He attended his classes directly and interacted with teachers while working at the same time.

He shared his experience with Masarat Initiative in a video, highlighting how he benefited from it in his studies. He mentioned, “I greatly benefited from enrolling in this initiative. The lessons were always in the evening, and if there were daytime lessons, I would use headphones and follow the lesson while working.”

The lessons were delivered to him through live broadcast, allowing him to easily communicate with the teachers as if they were present in the same classroom. In the end, Anas gave a wonderful piece of advice to all students who have faced difficult circumstances, encouraging them to resume their education and pursue their dreams.

Continuous support for orphans

Anas aspires to fulfill his dream of studying Computer Science after finishing high school. The initiative provided him and over 1,100 orphaned children who had discontinued their education and were facing difficult circumstances with free online education. The initiative also provides the necessary guidance and counseling to help them build a better future for themselves and their families.
